Who We Are?

Eternal Charitable Foundation is an Education-focused, not for profit, charitable organization, to primarily promote value based rural education along with Women empowerment, Health-care and Social welfare to under-privileged rural citizens.

The biggest challenge today is to stall the social catastrophe looming large in rural North India due to serious social issues like drug addiction, alcohol abuse, female feticide, farmer suicides etc. that have now contributed towards a tumultuous economic decline. This problem that has reached epidemic proportions, with the State Department of Social Security for Women and Children publishing a survey that 67% rural households in Punjab have at least one drug addict. This correlates with the fact that 69% rural households do not have a matriculate, reflecting the importance of education in addressing social issues. There is a need for a massive counter-program to repair this on a war footing since these northern states are the border states of India.

ECF is an organization with highly established credentials and is revered for its social and educational Endeavours across 5 states in North India. Hence, the Trust (ECF) has embarked upon this ambitious mission to reach out for support, in its endeavor towards setting up 500 low cost schools by 2020. Of these, 129 English medium rural schools with 60,000 students are already operational in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

The model of these schools was conceptualized over 107 years ago, by our visionaries,as a contemporary version of the erstwhile Gurukulas (on the pattern of Nalanda and Takshila), wherein moral values could be harmoniously woven along with modern scientific education to produce good global citizens.

Concerned authorities have reported that within a 30 km radius from every school (Akal Academy), drug addiction, alcohol abuse and general crime rate have reduced markedly, post the establishment of the schools. The impact is primarily due to the positive influence brought in by the students of these schools, who play a pivotal role in turning-around and inspiring their family members, neighbors and village community against the prevailing social evils.

The students of these shrines of value-based education, who are ambassadors of peace and goodness, move into society and transform lives.

ECF also runs one of the largest women skill development program of 'Free Teachers Training' for training 10th and 12th pass girls into qualified Teachers, who are then provided placements within these schools. This ensures that talent is retained within the villages. An internal study shows that each such empowered girl positively impacts the mindsets of at least 7 families.

ECF also runs a Charitable Hospital in the backward district of Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh wherein more than 30,000 poor underprivileged patients are annually attended to, with primary healthcare and emergency interventions. Four Free Medical camps are held in Sirmaur annually wherein expensive surgeries are provided free of cost to poor beneficiaries who, otherwise, could never afford it.

History is proof that India has not only withstood but also shone brighter every time it has been confronted with challenges and hardships. Without doubt, this instance is going to be no different. However, the battle at hand is a tough one and needs to be fought with all our might and with the best of the minds. Each of these 'value empowered' students would be the future asset of the nation.

Eternal Charitable Foundation has been initiated to fight this war, which we has to win, with your support!

Our Impact

  • Under this initiative, the organization has been able to cover 33 Districts (3 Backward Districts, 31 Gender critical Districts, 33educationally backward blocks) / 6450 villages across 5 states.
  • The young students of these schools have helped touch-move-inspire the local population and society to bring about turnarounds in their immediate social circle. An internal study reveals that each one of them manages to bring about a positive change in 30 to 35 persons in their area. Crime, marital discord and drug abuse has reduced in the areas that have these schools. And our students are toppers in their districts/ And our students have exhibited exceptional academic prowess, in their respective districts.
  • Around 18 lakh population in North Indian states are inspired by these children. (already mentioned in table)
  • 776 of our students are studying abroad for higher education.
  • The future short-term targets of the Trust envisage creating more schools within the next couple of years for which debt has been raised from Banks.
  • The second University is coming up at Talwandi Sabo including a much-needed Cancer detection centre in the cancer prone belt of Bathinda.
  • One small positive impact of these schools has been that 72 villages have opted to keep their villages liquor free under the Panchayat act by passing a resolution; thanks to the intensive anti-drug rallies by the young students all around the state. Though a small turnaround, this is a positive indicator in a state that is ill-known for being the country's largest liquor consuming state (Rs.2700 per capita).

Annual Reports

Eternal Charitable Foundation has grown big from one school in 1986 to developing and maintaining quality education for 129 schools, reaching out to 6450 rural villages now.

Eternal Charitable Foundation has also taken up an environment program in a big way. We have set up a 200 kW SPV (solar photovoltaic) plant at Baru Sahib, which is the only one of its kind in Himachal Pradesh and in one of India's most backward districts. Also, In the year gone by, 1,25,000 saplings of trees were planted by children in the campuses of the 129 Rural Schools.

We at Eternal Charitable Foundation, as per the legacy bequeathed upon us by our forefathers, have included developing values as an essential ingredient in the system of education being practiced in our schools.

With folded hands and humility, we seek each one's cooperation to join this movement and blessings of all to give us strength and wisdom to accomplish the unfinished tasks.

See how we, as a family have grown this big since our inception in 1986.
